Ronan Bouroullec

Apartamento Magazine

Tucked away in a small village in Brittany, renowned designer and artist Ronan Bouroullec has made a home shaped by the demands of landscape and solitude—a former auberge turned sardine-canning factory, perched at the entrance of a small harbour, where the tide dictates the pace of each day.

Ronan first put his skill and intuition to practise in the ‘90s, catching the eye of Giulio Cappellini at the Paris Salon du Meuble in 1997 and leading to his first steps into industrial design. His work has always been about form and feeling, about the tension between structure and fluidity. Here, in this remote corner of France, he is grounded by memories of his rural upbringing in the countryside, along with the dramatic landscape he has on hand—ever-changing weather, freezing sea, and the sheer beauty of a place that leaves you feeling both exhausted and amazed.
